Matt Berry has been synonymous with air-cooled VW performance and reliability since the early 1980s with Volksrestore in Brisbane. After moving to Sunshine Coast, in the 90's, Matt workshopped in his custom-built garage under Matt Berry Motor Sports badge. 
After considering his retirement options and how to pass the baton to the next generation of mechanic enthusiasts, Matt moved the garage to Cooroy and renamed it Air Cooled Garage in 2018.
​Regrettably, retirement came early and suddenly, with an illness that prevented Matt from further mechanical work. In 2021, the Air Cooled Garage was sold to his long-time VW enthusiast associate, Paul Fleming, and experienced Porsche mechanic, David Gutteridge.
